It's the time of the year when alot of families go on vacation. How many families are going to take a trip this year they cannot afford? It's one thing to save up for your expecting trip, but if you have to borrow money or use credit cards I think it is obvious that maybe the vacation needs to be taken at a different time or maybe a cheaper trip. I think it's great to take time to spend with your family if you can afford it. Why would you put yourself in a more difficult financial situation? Is the trip really worth it? It can cause more trouble than it's actually worth. You have to pay all of the money back that you did not have in the beginning.
Weigh your options. Can you go at a later date to get a cheaper rate? Are you trying to impress someone who most likely could care less? You will go and most likely enjoy yourself.Guess what? When you return home, you are still going to be in the same financial situation you were in before you left.
What's more important? Your families financial status or your trip?

I love this wisdom. Our famliy took a trip in May that we waited 5 years to afford. Althogh the trip was scheduled for May we started making the payments months earlier in October.
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what I'm talking about. Just look at those who borrow and do whatever just to go on a trip.
ReplyDeleteAMEN! Many folks thought we were straight CRAZY for taking my husband's commuter car on vacation to his sister's (me being one of them)...but if we would have rented a car...we would of had to charge it. Believe it or not...5 folks went to Arizona...for 4 days for $380.00. We overspent a little...but we didn't have to charge anything...(except I spent some gas on our American Express card...but I pay that in full every 30th)...
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you posted this because folks charge stuff like crazy. People commented why we had the same clothes on...I just washed everyday and didn't bother with new clothes...hello I've got boys...they're gonna get dirty.
Can you tell me you lit a fire under me. We all hadn't been together on a vacation since 2002 and we're already saving for
2011/2012...Lord willing.
Have a blessed day!
